Surgical Coverage
Surgical coverage is available as an endorsement to the full mortality and theft policy. It is more limited in scope than the major medical form as it only provides coverage for surgical procedures. Non-surgical treatment is not covered. Examples of covered occurrences are colic surgery, stitching to repair wounds, and arthroscopic surgery.
Surgical insurance costs $150 per horse per year and offers a maximum amount of $10,000. Annual limits and deductibles vary by company.
It is not available for racehorses. Certain exclusions apply.
